Zoom Basics

Zoom is the cloud-based vidoe conferencing platform which lets you attend classes and explore basic features so you can participate on Zoom with greater confidence. Ransomware can impact your organization (business, school, hospital, office, etc) if you are not up-to-date on the technology controls directly related to ransomware prevention. Using newly published ransomware prevention guidance, this 1-hour class will focus on educating you on how you can protect your organization.
Google Drive
with Teresa Johnson

This course will cover the use of Google Docs, Sharing files, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. Students will need a (free) Gmail account to participate in this class. The first night covers Docs & Sharing Files: How to navigate the Doc toolbar, design, save and recall your documents, all geared to optimal organization and communication, plus Sharing Files: what the options are for sharing of documents as well as good protocol for sharing. We will cover how you and your team (of 2 to 100) can all work from one document. Google Sheets (the spreadsheet piece in Google Drive) and Google Slides (the feature that allows users to make slideshows for presentations) will be covered in the second class. We will cover the basics as well as copyright permissions; as time permits, other advanced features will be covered.
QuickBooks 2021-Basics & Intermediate

This live, instructor-led Intuit-approved course, is a Microsoft Office Suite course using official course material for Windows 10 Desktop geared for beginning/intermediate users. Students will learn to navigate one of the most widely used accounting software applications for small businesses. QuickBooks is an enormous aid in paying bills, invoicing, tracking expenses, paying sales tax and creating reports to better manage a small business or company. This course provides the MOS certification pathway (no expiration) for interested students, and they may elect to take the official exam when ready. Loaner laptops are provided for the duration of the class so that all students may have access to a Windows 10 device at home. Introduction to JavaScript in Web Browsers

This is a two-day, in-person workshop on how to build interactive websites using JavaScript. No prior programming experience is required. On the first day, we will cover the basic tools of web programming. Day 2 will find us putting these concepts together. We will make a simple Frogger-like video game, and students will have a basic understanding of the programming concepts necessary to make a simple video game in a web page. Students should bring their own laptop with Firefox, Chrome, or Edge web browser. A loaner device is available, though not preferred.
Excel 2019 - Basics & Intermediate

Widely used in office settings, knowledge of Excel 2019 will enhance employment possibilities. New users will learn the basic setup and use of spreadsheets and Excel users may use it to refresh their skills. Included are editing and formatting of cells, basic use of formulas, as well as other tools. Intro to Photography

In this course, we will start with the basics of photography, covering the settings that all cameras share, to the basics of light and composition. It doesn’t matter what kind of camera you have—from a smartphone to a DSLR—the basics of photography remain unchanged. If your camera is a phone, we’ll talk about some different camera apps that can give you the same controls that regular cameras have. The goal is to create great images. Understanding how your camera functions will help you make more compelling images that you can be proud of. The final class will be an editing workshop. Bring your camera of choice to our photography classes!
Sound Recording & Editing

Learn how to create sound products with a high production value but on a low budget. Students will get hands-on experience with different hardware options and recording techniques. Then, both free and professional software solutions will be explored to get the most out of your recordings with sound editing and mastering. Students who want to learn how to get the most out of their current equipment may bring their own sound hardware or computer to class. Otherwise, various equipment options will be provided. Students may bring their own sound recordings and will also have the opportunity to record during class or use provided samples.
