MCST Adult Education is an official Certiport® Exam Test Center, proctoring exams for individuals with current and relevant digital skills to obtain credentials for the competitive global workforce. Certification exams include the official Microsoft Office program, the Microsoft Technology Associate program, the Adobe® Certified Associate program, the Adobe® Certified Expert program, the Autodesk® Certified User program, the Intuit® QuickBooks Certified User program and the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. The proctor fee must be paid at the time of testing here; the fee is based on the length of the exam. Please call 596-7752 option 3 with questions and to schedule a testing appointment.

This course will cover the use of Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Sharing files. Students will need a (free) Gmail account to participate in this class.  Each session will be a different topic; each class will start with the basics of the program and how to design, save and recall your documents.  As time permits advanced features will be introduced into the classes.  Google Docs – This class will cover the basics of how to navigate the Google Doc tool bar as well as how to find other options that are not shown on the tool bar.  This will include comments to documents as well as other features, as time permits.

 Google Sheets – This is the spreadsheet piece in Google Drive.  Students will get a basic overview of the program as well as some special features, such as designing drop down options and comments that make this a great program for multiple users.

 Google Slides – This feature allows users to make slide shows or presentations.  We will cover the basics as well as copywrite permissions; as time permits other advanced features will be covered.

 Sharing Files – This class will cover the options for sharing of documents as well good protocol for sharing.  We will cover how you and your team (of 2 to 100) can all work from one document.

Come learn how to use this cloud-based video conferencing platform which lets you attend classes virtually and meet with others either by video or audio-only or both!  Zoom creates a way for in-person classes to still “meet” and enjoy the ability to connect with others. We will show you how to download the Zoom app and explore its basic features.  Also, we will create a “Zoom meeting” so you can practice and gain confidence in using it. Some helpful resources will be provided.  Bring your laptop, tablet, or phone (iOS or Android) to this class, but if you cannot, we will provide a device for you to use. Starting a podcast may seem like a challenge, but anyone can launch one whether it is about a passion, hobby, or for a business. Learn the steps needed to create, launch, and grow a successful podcast. This one-night class will teach you how to develop your podcast idea, choose hardware, and create an RSS feed. Other topics that will be covered include naming the podcast, artwork, interviews, editing techniques, and submitting the show to destinations like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.  This class can operate successfully via Zoom, if necessary.

With classes and meetings now online, Zoom has become the most widely used web-based video conferencing tool, but it often does not get used to its full advantage.  In this one night class we will take a deep dive into the Zoom platform to explore the advanced features it has to offer.  We will cover how to change meeting control settings, how to share screens, how to use Zoom on different devices (iPhone, Android, MacBook, and PC’s), and much more. Come prepared with a basic knowledge of how to use Zoom and we will delve more deeply into the advanced features. This class may be presented via Zoom, if necessary, and our Adult Ed staff will assist.

This two night class will be an exploration of how to utilize eBay, the on-line auction, as a buyer or seller. We will walk you through how to create an account, the eBay fee structure, and the anatomy of a sale. Describing and photographing items, tips, tricks, and pitfalls will be discussed. A short discussion about tax liability and eBay No-No’s will be included.  Laptop computers will be available for your use. This course is for the eBay novice or dabbler, so bring your questions to class for discussion.

Scammers and schemers are organized, and they are actively targeting you. Learn about the tricks and tactics they use to gain your personal information and access to your finances. You will see they are VERY organized and VERY good at what they do. How do you or your elderly parent avoid becoming victims of their schemes?  It all starts with gaining the knowledge and awareness of the practices to stay safe. What do you do if you have been breached by their schemes? In this information session, you will learn about common scenarios that are used to “get” your precious information, and, most importantly, you’ll learn how to spot them immediately, avoid falling into their traps, and take action if you realize you have been a victim.  This class will present via Zoom, if necessary.
