Automotive Technology

This 6-week course will give you a basic understanding of your automobile as well as a possible launching pad to affiliated careers or further study at a community college level. Please contact the office if this course is work-related. We will cover the basic theory and diagnostics of the following topics, aligned to ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) standards: Foundation and Safety, Basic Engine and Auto Transmission Fundamentals/Service, Steering System and Suspension, and Brakes. By completion of class, the student will have a solid understanding of lubrication, fluids, tires, vehicle maintenance, and how systems work. Assigned safety modules must be completed at home, via a provided website, prior to the start of the first class. This is not a bring-in-your-own-vehicle repair class; applied learning will occur in the shop on a demo vehicle. Students must provide their own safety glasses and reinforced toe footwear.

Blueprint Reading Fundamentals

This is an introductory class; no previous experience required. Emphasis will be placed on The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standards. Content learned will be applied to multiple disciplines and according to industry standards. Focus will be placed on mechanical multiview drawings, sectional and auxiliary views, linetypes, dimensioning, symbols, title blocks, and an overview of architectural drawing types. Each class will be structured with 2.0 hours of instruction and 1.0 hour of guided practice. Practice sheets will be sent home to practice learning.

SketchUp for Woodworking -March 2024

Learn to use the free version of SketchUp 3D modeling software to create a computer model for a woodworking project. Starting with a finished bat house, students use reverse engineering methods to create a 3D model, review and inspect the model’s parts, components, fixtures, and the general carpentry space. Craft the design and drawings with the SketchUp Free version available at Learn to change and evaluate your designs, determine material needs, minimize waste, and create and update drawings.This class is open to all woodworking levels. Students must obtain an account with Trimble Software and access to web-based SketchUp Free, and review/complete the SketchUp Free tutorial video at: You will also need your own safety glasses, hearing protection, lightweight work gloves, pencils, white artists eraser, and closed toe shoes. A windows-based laptop and clickable mouse will be provided for in-class work.

Excel 2019 - Advanced Applications

For the experienced Excel user, this live, instructor-led Windows 10 Desktop course features official course materials approved by Intuit & Microsoft. Prerequisite: Excel Basics/Intermediate course or instructor’s permission. Topics covered in this course include working with multiple worksheets, web sharing, pivot tables, advanced formatting, charting, documenting, auditing, and dealing with spreadsheet challenges. This course provides the MOS certification pathway (no expiration) for interested students, and students may elect to take the official exam when ready. Call the Adult Ed office for separate purchase details of the required eBook which accompanies this course (unless these materials were purchased for the current Basics & Intermediate class). Please note: Students will need Excel 2019 installed on their home computer in order to practice at home. If you have not previously taken an Excel course at MCST please be sure to complete the 2-part form at this link before the first class.

QuickBooks (Online Version)-Advanced Applications

This Intuit-approved course is a live, instructor-led advanced course using Windows OS and is suitable for experienced QuickBooks users. It is a Microsoft Office Suite course using official course material and will cover advanced features in QuickBooks. Prerequisite: QuickBooks Basics/Intermediate course or instructor’s permission.This course provides the MOS certification pathway (no expiration) for interested students, and students may elect to take the official exam when ready. Call the Adult Ed office for separate purchase details of the required printed textbook/eBook which accompanies this course (same materials from QuickBooks Basics & Intermediate course.) PLEASE NOTE: In class, students will use MCST provided laptops, but all students will need Windows OS operating computers at home in order to do homework assignments. If you have not previously taken a QuickBooks course at MCST please be sure to complete the 2-part form at this link before the first class.

AirBnB-Type Rental Part II

This course is designed for those of you who have decided to take the plunge and try their hand at short-term rentals. Let’s get you up and running. Practical ‘how to’ information, along with individual student’s needs, will steer this course. We’ll go through the process of setting up everyone’s profile and account, as well as talk about the best way to take photos, get those uploaded and placed in the profile. We’ll take a close look at nightly rates based on each facility, amenities, location, and time of year. We’ll discuss insurance options and any other factors that should be considered.
