Participants will learn to recognize and provide care for persons of all ages who have experienced a sudden illness or injury until Emergency Medical Services arrive and take over. Following current Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines, students will learn to recognize a heart attack and what do in this situation, including providing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students will also learn to recognize stroke, breathing emergencies, and how to treat burns. Additional skills include caring for choking adults, children and infants, and controlling bleeding, as well as checking responsive persons. Certificate and reference card included. Certified Residential Medication Assistant (CRMA)

Calendar Mar 30, 2018 at 8 am, runs for 5 weeks

This 40 hour CRMA course includes classroom, with clinical available after successful completion of classroom. All students must complete clinical, either with our instructor or arranged through your facility. Successful students will be certified to administer oral medications to residents in state-licensed assisted living facilities. Certification is valid for two years. Clinical component is an additional $125 cost if done with the MCST instructor. Please call 596-7752 option 3 for an application.

Students enrolled in this Certificate program complete 200 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience, which meet all state licensing requirements. Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the State Competency Exam, the student will be eligible to enter the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistant under the direction of a licensed nurse. This is the 6 hour recertification exam for the CRMA whose certificate is still current. It no longer includes review time; students should study on their own to ensure successful licensing.

Excel 2016 - Basics

Widely used in office settings, knowledge of Excel 2016 will enhance employment possibilities. This course teaches the basic setup and use of spreadsheets to new users, or can be taken by Excel users wishing to refresh their skills. Included are editing and formatting of cells and the use of basic formulas.

PSS - Personal Support Specialist 5.7.18

This 50 hour course prepares participants to work in home health care or residential settings. Personal care, communication skills, observing, reporting and documentation, how to provide care safely and deal with emergencies, consumer rights, aging and illness are among the topics taught. State certification is awarded upon successful completion of skill components and written exam. This course runs on Mondays, with the exception of one class on Thursday, May 24th.

Welding - STICK Intro

This 18 hour (SMAW) course provides a basic foundation in welding techniques. Topics will include shop safety, striking an arc and welding flat and horizontal positions. Vertical positions will be covered if time permits. Safety is covered in the first class session and students will be given access to an online industry recognized training course in Welding Safety through S/P2®.

Students must complete an easy application form, and provide their own protective eye wear, steel-toed footwear and welding gloves.
