Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Certification Training

As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential. We are excited to connect our communities with Woodfords Family Services for this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. Call MCST Adult Ed at 596-7752 x.3 to enroll or for more info. You will complete 12 online modules and 12 hours of live instruction (offered virtually). Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Assistance with job placement is provided to anyone who completes the program. Assistance with technology may be available. Prerequisites: A high school diploma or equivalency. Proof of education is required. Must be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course. An administration fee of $25 is required at registration. A reading comprehension assessment is required prior to completing the application, administered through your local Maine Adult Education program. Welding - MIG I - Sept.

This 36 hour course is for students with no prior or little experience in MIG welding. This course will cover shop safety, trouble-shooting problems, machine settings, basic metal joints and how to weld them. Safety is covered in the first two sessions. Intro to Photography - Understanding the Camera - Sept.

Calendar Sep 22, 2021 at 6 pm, runs for 6 weeks

In this live course, we'll start with the basics of photography, covering the settings that all cameras share, to the basics of light and composition. It doesn’t matter what kind of camera you have—from a smartphone to a DSLR—the basics of photography remain unchanged. If your camera is a phone, we’ll talk about some different camera apps that can give you the same controls that regular cameras have. The goal is to create great images. Understanding how your camera functions will help you make more compelling images that you can be proud of. The final class will be an editing workshop. Bring your camera of choice to class!

Chair Seat Weaving

In this informational class, you will be introduced to various styles of seat weaving, with a focus on weaving a basic cane seat. A hands-on weaving practice session on a small frame will take place at the first class. This will be followed by supply information and 3 Zoom classes (1 hour in length, each) to assist and answer questions as you weave your seat. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair they plan to work on to the informational first session to have it evaluated.

This course will cover the use of Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Sharing files. Students will need a (free) Gmail account to participate in this class. The first night covers Docs & Sharing Files: How to navigate the Doc toolbar, design, save and recall your documents, all geared to optimal organization and communication, plus Sharing Files: what are the options for sharing of documents as well as good protocol for sharing. We will cover how you and your team (of 2 to 100) can all work from one document. Google Sheets and Slides will be covered on the 2nd class: Google Sheets, the spreadsheet piece in Google Drive, and Google Slides (the feature that allows users to make slideshows for presentations). We will cover the basics as well as copyright permissions; as time permits, other advanced features will be covered.

This course is for beginner students. Included is shop safety, determining speeds and feeds, proper use of dial calipers and micrometers, theory and hands-on operation of basic machines found in a machine shop (lathe, milling machines and drill presses). Join Master Plumber Mike Kee as he demonstrates how plumbing works in a home, discusses preventative maintenance and shows you how to tackle common problems and make simple repairs. He will show you how to install or repair faucets, repair a toilet, clear drain clogs, sweat a pipe, determine what type of piping and fittings to use for specific projects, and when to call a professional. This live class will also cover student questions and topics.

QuickBooks 2021-Basics & Intermediate

This live, instructor-led Intuit-approved course, is a Microsoft Office Suite course using official course material for Windows 10 desktop geared for beginning/intermediate users. Students will learn to navigate one of the most widely used accounting software applications for small businesses. QuickBooks is an enormous aid in paying bills, invoicing, tracking expenses, paying sales tax and creating reports to better manage a small business or company. This course provides the MOS certification pathway (no expiration) for interested students, and they may elect to take the official exam here at our Certiport testing facility, when ready. Loaner laptops are provided for the duration of the class so that all students may have access to a Windows 10 device at home. Call the Adult Ed office for separate purchase details of the required eBook/eLab which accompanies this course.
