Participants will learn to recognize and provide care for persons of all ages who have experienced a sudden illness or injury until Emergency Medical Services arrive and take over. Following current Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines, students will learn to recognize a heart attack and what do in this situation, including providing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students will also learn to recognize stroke, breathing emergencies, and how to treat burns. Additional skills include caring for choking adults, children and infants, and controlling bleeding, as well as checking responsive persons. Certificate and reference card included. Presented by Maine Safety Education

Certified Residential Medication Assistant (CRMA)

This 40 hour CRMA course includes classroom, with clinical available after successful completion of classroom. All students must complete clinical, either with our instructor or arranged through your facility. Successful students will be certified to administer oral medications to residents in state-licensed assisted living facilities. Certification is valid for two years. MCST Adult Education is an official Certiport® Exam Test Center, proctoring exams for individuals with current and relevant digital skills to obtain credentials for the competitive global workforce. Certification exams include the official Microsoft Office program, the Microsoft Technology Associate program, the Adobe® Certified Associate program, the Adobe® Certified Expert program, the Autodesk® Certified User program, the Intuit® QuickBooks Certified User program and the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. The proctor fee must be paid at the time of testing here.

Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the State Competency Exam, the student will be eligible to enter the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistant under the direction of a licensed nurse. Computer Essentials - Advanced

This class is for students who have completed the ‘Computer Essentials-Basics’ course or have some experience using Word and Excel spreadsheets. Students will learn to work in both Word and Excel to create and merge documents, reports and presentations. Email etiquette and formatting will be covered along with advanced file management and file sharing options. We will set aside time in class to handle student generated topics and questions.

Students must complete our ‘Computer Essentials-Introduction’ course or have experience using Word and Excel spreadsheets.
